This stone came from the south fork of the Nooksack River which runs off the Sisters by Mount Baker. The tan rind is the river tumbled natural stone that has developed as it was washed downstream.

This piece is meant to remind us that the prosperity and flourishing of our communities arise from the support of their surroundings that provide basic human needs, foundations of well being, and opportunity.
